At Jyotir AI, we take your privacy seriously. This policy explains exactly which data we collect, which third-party services are active on our platform, and how your information is handled. We have designed our architecture to minimize data collection and maximize transparency.

Information We Collect

1. Birth Details

When you create a profile, you provide:

  • Your name (or nickname)
  • Date of birth
  • Time of birth
  • Place of birth (latitude/longitude coordinates)
  • Gender (optional)

How this data flows: Your birth details are stored in your browser's local storage. When you request a chart or ask an astrology question, this data is sent to our server to compute your birth chart using the Swiss Ephemeris library (a server-side calculation). The computed chart is then used to generate your AI reading. We do not permanently store your birth details or computed charts on our servers after the request completes.

2. Chat Messages & Queries

When you ask questions or request predictions, your messages and birth chart data are routed through our server to one of our AI providers for processing. We use a cascade of providers in this order:

These providers may temporarily process your queries according to their own policies. We do not permanently store your questions or AI-generated responses on our servers. Your chat history exists only in your browser's local storage.

3. Technical & Usage Data

We collect anonymous technical information to improve our service:

  • Browser type and version
  • Device type (desktop/mobile)
  • Pages visited and features used
  • Error logs and performance metrics
  • IP address (used by hosting and analytics services, not stored by us directly)

4. Cookies & Local Storage

We use browser local storage and cookies to:

  • Save your profiles and chat history on your device
  • Remember your language and theme preferences
  • Track whether you've completed onboarding
  • Support advertising (via Ezoic and Google AdSense — see Third-Party Services below)
  • Store your ad-consent preferences (via Ezoic's consent management platform)

You can clear all locally stored data at any time through your browser settings or through our Settings page in the app.

How We Use Your Information

  • Generate Predictions: To compute your birth chart and provide personalized astrological insights
  • Improve Service: To understand which features are used and improve the user experience
  • Serve Ads: To display relevant advertisements via Ezoic and Google AdSense to keep the platform free
  • Technical Support: To diagnose and fix technical issues when you report them
  • Legal Compliance: To comply with applicable laws and regulations

We will never: Sell your birth chart data or personal information, share it with third parties for marketing purposes, or use it for any purpose other than providing and improving our astrology service.

Data Security

Encryption in Transit: All data sent between your browser and our servers is encrypted using HTTPS/TLS.

Local Storage Security: Your birth details are stored locally on your device. They are sent to our server only when needed for chart calculations, and are not retained after the calculation completes.

Third-Party API Security: Our AI providers (Groq, Google Gemini, Cerebras) use industry-standard security practices to protect data in transit and during processing.

No Persistent Server-Side Storage: We do not permanently store your birth details or chat history on our servers. This "privacy by architecture" approach means your personal astrological data is not held on our infrastructure.

Advertising — Ezoic

We use Ezoic as our ad management platform. Ezoic loads scripts that may set cookies, collect browsing data, and serve personalized advertisements. Ezoic also operates:

  • Ezoic Analytics — Tracks page views and engagement for ad optimization

PostHog may record anonymized session replays. All sensitive input fields (birth details) are automatically masked. You can opt out of analytics by enabling "Do Not Track" in your browser or using an ad blocker such as uBlock Origin.

  • Opt Out of Analytics: Use browser extensions like uBlock Origin or enable "Do Not Track" in your browser
  • Clear Cookies: Clear all cookies and local storage through your browser settings

Children's Privacy

Jyotir AI is not intended for users under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with their data, please contact us immediately through our Contact Page so we can take appropriate action.

International Data Transfers

Jyotir AI is accessible globally. When you use our service, your data may be processed by our AI providers (Groq, Google Gemini, Cerebras) and analytics/advertising services (Ezoic, Google Analytics, PostHog) which may operate servers in various countries including the United States. By using Jyotir AI, you consent to this cross-border data processing.

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA) or UK, you may have additional rights under GDPR. Ezoic's consent management platform will request your consent before enabling personalized advertising when applicable.
